I wanted to update what has been going on at Plantworks Designs 2010-2011.  Plantworks  Las Vegas is an excellent source of ideas and concepts for design, specification, and installation of your plantscape project.  UV Rated Polyblend

The Only Proven Artificial Foliage for Exterior Use

Plantworks has been using UV Rated Polyblend material for over 20 years. The use of this material in artificial landscaping began when major projects, like the Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas, had design requirements that live plants could not achieve. Natural architectural elements are replicated by Plantworks with an intensive application of UV Rated Polyblend, which creates a lasting landscape.

Currently, retailers have started featuring plastic plants that are relatively inexpensive and these products have caused consumer confusion. They are often misrepresented as “exterior grade” or featuring “UV inhibitors.” To be clear, they are not manufactured with UV Rated Polyblend. They are made from low-density molded plastic with high air content and neither contain commercial grade coloring nor a UV rating.

 

Products made with these plastics are intended for interior use only. Exposure to direct sunlight, varying temperatures and weather will cause the product to lose its color and literally decompose. The high air content escapes from the product, dissolving it and your investment.

  In contrast, UV Rated Polyblend is a polymer, which is a blend of high-density plastics, similar to PVC pipes and parts found on automobiles. The product is superior due to its manufacturing process. Components are spun and pressure molded while heat blending produces natural vibrant colors. This process forces all the air out of the piece, ensuring its lasting color. Foliage and flower components are made with steel spine reinforcements inside the mold for structural integrity. The result is a true exterior product that is fade proof, rust proof and structurally durable.

Our confidence in UV Rated Polyblend only increases. We have used the material throughout major projects and have found it to stand the test of time and inclement weather. We are so confident in our UV Rated Polyblend’s durability that we offer a five year colorfast guarantee. It’s the only industry warranty on plants made from UV Rated Polyblend and only available at Plantworks.

Our primary foliage line includes cypress, juniper, boxwood, liriope, sago palms, mahonia and a variety of ivy. Our flowering line includes bromeliads, bougainvillea, geraniums and gardenias. They are manufactured in China and arrive ready for customization by our experienced design team, from placement on fabricated steel frames, like the Tropicana Las Vegas, to concreted nursery pots, like The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
